[00:00:00.990] Welcome to Coffee Powered Systems, equipping women with actionable steps to overcome, overwhelm and streamline business and life. So grab your favorite drink and come hang out with me. I'm your host, Miranda Merten. Welcome back to Coffee Powered Systems. Today is Tuesday, where I give you the skinny on an app or a tool that could be useful for your personal productivity. And today I am talking about Alarmy, my morning alarm clock. This is an app that you can find in the App Store. [00:00:32.010] It's on Google Play and in the iOS App Store. And it is for my guys and gals out there who are not morning people. So if that's you, listen up, because I'm telling you about this app that could help you get out of bed quicker and easier every single morning. At the time of this recording, Alarmy has a four point eight rating in the Apple App Store, and the app says, make your morning successful and be your most productive self. [00:01:03.420] So what is Alarmy? It's actually a motivational alarm clock app, and it turns your iPhone or your Android phone into a motivational alarm clock that helps you get out of bed first and make you do your to-dos done successfully before your alarm can go off. [00:01:22.650] So what does that mean with alarm? You have to set missions on your app. So you set a certain mission in the morning and you have to do that mission if you want your alarm clock to turn off. There are a few different kinds of missions that you can choose, and I'm going to go through what they are right here for you. [00:01:40.440] So first of all, you can do a typing mission where you have to type a motivational phrase and you can set the amount of phrases, you know, from one phrase up to three phrases. And they do have to be grammatically correct. That includes punctuation. And once you get your phrase correct, it'll move on to the next one or turn your alarm off. The next one you can do is steps. You can set a certain amount of steps from 15 up to 1000 that you have to do. [00:02:10.140] And no, I tried it. You can't just shake the phone. It can tell the difference between shaking and walking. So you do have to get out of bed and do your steps. Once you've done all of your steps, it does count down for you so you can see how far you are away. [00:02:24.810] Then the alarm will go off. [00:02:26.890] Another one is shaking. You can set a shaking mission to where you have to shake the app a certain amount of time. So similar to the step mission, except you don't actually get out of bed. But I don't know if you've tried shaking your phone. It's not the easiest thing to do and probably not super easy when you're waking up in the morning either. There are also a couple of photo options where you can set a photo, say you want to take a picture of your Christmas tree in the morning because your Christmas tree is downstairs and your bedroom is upstairs. [00:02:58.410] You set the particular photo that you need to take a picture of. When your alarm goes off, you have a certain amount of time to find that item in your house. [00:03:07.380] SNAP a picture and then your alarm will go off. The same thing goes for their barcode or QR code scanner. So if you have something in your kitchen that has a barcode on it and you want to scan that barcode in the morning, that is an option as well. Now, of course, you're on the honor system here. You can't sleep with the thing next to your bed that's not going to help you any. So make sure it's maybe it's something that you can't move easily. [00:03:35.430] So then you'll be able to go to the thing instead of having the thing be right next to you. [00:03:42.090] And there's also a math option. You can do math problems and they make them super easy from things like three plus one up to a challenging hell mode is what they call it. And that includes large multiplication and addition problems. I don't know anybody who could do that. Just off top of your head, you might have to have a calculator sitting nearby and there is a timer for those as well. And you can do as little as one math problem, up to forty math problems. [00:04:12.840] And the last option is a memory problem. [00:04:16.560] So it will show you some tiles and squares, flip them over and you have to kind of recreate the pattern. So those are the types of missions that you have in the app. Super fun if you if you like doing those kinds of things. If motivation will really help you get out of bed in the morning, it could be super annoying if you are grumpy and you just don't want to do it or you keep messing up the mission and you have to restart when the timer is over. [00:04:44.280] But there are so many really great options in this app. There's different sounds for nighttime. If you want to do nighttime sounds to put you to sleep, there are different sounds for alarms. If you are a light sleeper and a warning sound will work for you, that's an option. But if you're a heavy sleeper and you actually need more, it's a loud sound. They do have loud options as well, which are super annoying. There's a snooze option. [00:05:10.080] There's a wake up check option. So if you take. To fall back asleep, even after you've done your missions, it'll give you a little wake up check once you tap, yes, you're awake. The wake up check goes away. You have one hundred seconds. If you do not tap that, yes, you are awake, your mission will start over again. And you know, you have to go right back into it. So those are some of the options that the app has. [00:05:37.930] There is a free version. The free version does come with ads. It comes with most of the missions, the photo math, bar code, shake and memory mission all come on the free one. If you want the wake up check or the step mission or an ad free experience, you would have to upgrade for those. Now, the upgraded price is four point ninety nine per month, or they do give you a discount. Within the first hour of downloading the app, they'll give you a 30 percent discount, bringing it down to three dollars and forty nine cents per month. [00:06:10.540] So go ahead and try those out, try out the missions. You can definitely work with the free app if it sounds like something that would work for you. [00:06:18.610] I would love to hear if Alarmy is your jam or if it's something that you would use. My thirteen year old daughter tried it with me and she said it was a modern day torture device. [00:06:29.860] So I would love to hear what you think about it. So I will drop the links for Alarmy down in the show notes. Let me know how it goes for you and if this is a tip that might help out my fellow non morning people. [00:06:42.820] So that is my tip for today. I will see you next time.
